Let’s look at a tasty promotional book by photographer Greg Kindred.
My mentee and former Project 52 Member, Greg Kindred, created this killer promo for his product and beverage studio in Kansas City.
There are many breweries in Kansas City, and Greg, being a good solid midwestern dude, likes beer.
He started this as an outreach project and it ended up being a book.
Greg Approached breweries with his book idea, some sample images, and work he had produced for other breweries.
The idea caught on fast, and it kept Greg busy during those lulls in business we all have. If he wasn’t shooting for a client, he was out getting a beer. A photo of a beer, that is.
The book was designed by Greg and printed at Blurb as a Trade Pub. It is quite cool.
As a marketing tool, it is a bit pricey at about $16 a piece, but as a special gift for a client on the fence, it is truly awesome.

Creating a beautifully printed piece like this can be both artistically satisfying, and a strong promotional pieces as well. These projects give you the chance to step out of the shooter role and become an art director and a producer.
