Sprinting for More Business: A Photographer's Challenge in a Tightening Market
If you, or I, don't tell people we have something to offer, no one will know what we have, and absolutely nothing will happen. That's not a good thing.
Hey Ya’ll…
Good morning.
This will be a short one, and it is a pitch for a class. I have to send these on occasion, as I have learned that if they don’t know you are offering something, you will never sell anything.
Think about it.
I am a photographer, designer, and educator.
I need to make a living, and that means I have to let possible customers know I exist, and that I have something of value to offer.
You are a photographer.
You need to make a living, and that means that you have to connect with possible clients as well.
If you don’t let people know you are a photographer and have something to offer, you will not be making photographs for anyone, ever.
So I won’t apologize for letting you know about the classes I offer, and I want you to not apologize to anyone for your marketing efforts.
I remember a line from a long time ago; “Without Advertising, Nothing Happens.”
Think about it and read it again.
Nothing.
Happens.
Whether you take out a Google Ads campaign or make YouTube videos, purchase print advertising in Communication Arts magazine, write a few lines on Medium or Substack, or just let your friends on FB know what you are doing this weekend, you are marketing.
You must continually be marketing.
And even more importantly, you must continually be marketing to the right people with the right message.
I have been working with photographers in a mentor/coach capacity for over 15 years now. I started out small, and now it is something I absolutely love to do.
I taught Project 52 Pro System for 12 years, and the number of pro shooters it produced is in the hundreds. (NOTE: I am finishing up with the last class now. It was time to do something else. That’s The Creative Class, but not what I wanted to talk about today.
The Client Acquisition Sprint for Photographers:
Five Days to Jumpstart Your Business.
I have done 8-week workshops since 2014, and I will continue to do them into 2024.
But this class is something I want to do quickly.
I believe you can learn to do almost anything competently in 20 hours of focused learning.
Twenty hours.
This sprint is a ten-hour intensive designed to get your understanding of who buys your work, how to identify them, how to get business from them, and - importantly - how to keep them as a client, not just a one-off job.
It is a system.
I like systems. I adore systems.
Systems keep you honest. Systems give you feedback. Systems simply work.
This system works.
I even guarantee it (see page).
It isn’t a secret, there is no ‘easy button’, no proprietary stuff you have never heard of, it is a system. One that I have used for more than one business.
And I use it when I am helping a client get their business jumpstarted.
We begin on November 9, and we finish up on November 14 (no class on Sunday).
Five live 2-hour lessons with Q&A.
Two hours of homework each day.
Worksheets included.
(If you want more one-on-one Q&A, there is a second option for you.)
Unsurprisingly, that comes to 20 hours.
You may go to bed on November 8, not having a clue who would buy your services, and awaken on November 15, with a list, a plan, and the tools to get to work.
All lessons are recorded for you to visit later.
I have kept the price low enough it should fit any budget.
Hey, enough of this newsletter… if you are interested, the particulars are all on this page:
